David Choate

Vice President, Engineering

In his role as Vice President of Engineering, David is responsible for strategic planning, management, and delivery of American Water’s capital program of approximately $1.5 billion annually, as well as leading the corporate engineering department to provide support for 200+ water wastewater systems across our 16 regulated state subsidiary companies and our market-based businesses. He joined American Water in 2005, and has 25 years of experience in water and wastewater utility related fields. David is a licensed Professional Engineer in Maryland and Virginia. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Duke University, a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland.
